Aluminium Bronze A2 is a Copper based solid MIG & TIG welding wire for depositing a welding alloy with a composition which is predominately Copper (Cu) plus nominally 10% Aluminium (Al). It is available on spools for MIG welding and cut lengths for TIG welding.
This welding alloy has excellent corrosion, cavitation and wear resistance in marine environments on components made with similar base materials. Good colour match with brass base materials is achievable. The presence of Al in this welding alloy helps to suppress Zn volatilisation during welding. The alloy withstands corrosion in dilute acids and sea water.
It has good shock and fatigue resistant qualities, low coefficient of friction and being Zinc free, it is not prone to dezincification. The wires produce weld metal with high strength and attractive mechanical properties. In MIG welding, this wire is designed for welding in the downhand position with welding grade Argon, or other Argon based shielding gases, using DC+ polarity.
Features:
- 1.2mm wire
- 15kg spool
- Aluminium Bronze A2 GTAW / GMAW
- Solid wire, copper based
- Classification: ERCuAl-A2
Typical Applications:
The wire is used for welding Aluminium bronzes of similar composition and other high strength Copper-Zinc alloys, Silicon bronzes, some Copper-Nickel alloys, ferrous metals and dissimilar metal combinations. It is ideal for the repair of castings made out of a range of ferrous and non-ferrous (mainly Cu based) materials using the TIG process. Also used for cladding C-Mn steels and cast irons to give wear and corrosion resistance particularly on bearing surfaces. Widely used as a bearing surface on C-Mn and low alloy steel components.
It is useful for joining, weld reclamation and cladding on marine propellers, marine fittings, valves and pipes. Typical applications are spark and corrosion resistant pumps, castings, machinery parts, heat exchanges for offshore, marine and mining equipment.
It is excellent for building up or overlaying metal for wear and corrosion resistant surfaces. Weld deposits exhibit high mechanical properties, tensile strength, yield strength and hardness
